Lead-Data Scientist (Tech team lead for data science dept)

Job Summary

This role will play heavily in the success of this venture, and will regularly collaborate with Data Science, Architecture, Product, and other key teams in both India and the US. You will be responsible for developing, and leading a diverse team of analysts, data scientists, and visualization experts to help turn raw data into valuable insights.
The ideal candidate will have a good balance of business and technical experience and will have a proven track record of leading multi-disciplined teams that are focused on driving strategic results. The candidate will also have a strong knowledge of data science combined with an understanding of how to leverage data science resources to deliver cutting edge solutions.

Role/Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of existing business and technical processes: You will work closely with various teams to gain insights into their operations, identify areas for improvement, and develop a comprehensive understanding of our business and technical processes.
• Drive optimization using a data-driven approach: Utilizing your expertise in data analysis and visualization, you will leverage relevant data sources to identify optimization opportunities. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions that improve efficiency and quality.
• Manage and develop resources: You will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and quality analysts. This includes providing mentorship, guidance, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Own and drive technical projects: You will take ownership of technical projects from requirements gathering to delivery. With your leadership skills, you will guide the team in an innovative and fast-paced environment, ensuring successful project execution.
• Partner with key leaders: You will collaborate with key leaders in the US to understand their requirements and provide support throughout the project lifecycle. This may involve extending working hours to align with US teams and actively participating in requirement gathering sessions.
• Grow and develop key skills in the data science and visualization space: You will stay updated with the latest advancements in data science technologies. Based on your expertise, you will make recommendations on best-in-class solutions that can be implemented through the team.
• Direct and coordinate production, operations, and quality assurance: You will be responsible for overseeing the production, operations, quality assurance, testing, and maintenance activities related to data science projects. This includes ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

• BE/B.Tech/MCA Degree in a field such as math, computer science, statistics/data science, engineering, or similar relevant field with total 8-10 years of relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of experience directly handling data science projects, and/or engineering resources.
• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
• Stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• At least 5 years of experience in Python and/or other data scripting languages.
• Preferred to have experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization tool (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
• At least 5 years of experience in querying and analyzing and working with data languages and platforms (SQL).
• Good to have experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Data Bricks to understand data science solutions at scale.
• Preferred to have experience working with project management tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira to manage the project lifecycle and ensure successful project delivery.
